i havent blogged for so long, people are already complaining that my blog is dead. :/ my apologies! okay here's another post after a 4month hiatus. reason for the deadness? i've been super busy, even during the weekends. time spent with the group on my Saturdays n Sundays in church n outside fellowshipping takes it's toll on me, but i don't regret one day of it, cos it's so fun and happening, and of course most importantly God is behind it all. if the kingdom of God is advanced, why not? (:
today's ESS was themed 'Identity' and the sermon aptly titled 'The Real Me'. i thought the musical presentation was really interesting. what with movie clips in the background coupled with live music performed by our very own y-hope musicians. and my very own friends and people i know were up there singing and performing! my pherd harry singing this friendship song with qianjin; samuel solo-ing "It's My Life" a la Bon Jovi; yaoguo keyboarding Phantom of the Opera and simon rocking his guitar. i think that's one thing really unique about Hope church. we r small but not THAT small, growing but not THAT big. so we r like kinda a close-knitted community. people from different districts can still know one another. and take this, how many churches can boast of their members being able to talk one-on-one or even have a meal with the pastor? we can!
later in the evening i also had this great chat with jiehui. silly hanyang for saying that i was in trouble cos "jiehui wants to talk to you. must be you're not doing well". lol. anyways i really learnt alot from jiehui our NS group leader today, mainly about improving our prayer life. when we include god (holy spirit) in our prayers and have zero doubt, god answers! according to his will n timing, of course. he also shared about this incident when he was in argentina last month, he was indoors and it was raining, and he just told God, "God, how nice it would be if it could just snow now", and at that moment the rain started turning into snow! it was the first time snow fell in buenos aires in 87years! no kidding! this is amazing stuff. if only we could pray with faith and not doubt at all. and it's also important that we don't just be 'evax machines', but rather evangelise as a result of our love and joy in God. sound's cliched but it's really true. what's the point of evaxing when the motive is not God-driven? it would be so task-oriented, wouldn't it? as jiehui put it, "it would be just like network-marketing. cos both are trying to promote something good."
well i really learnt something fresh today and i'm gonna have a new approach in my prayer life. never again will there be monotonous prayers that go unanswered! as christians, everything that we do should drive the kingdom forward. that should take priority even over our own will. that's why it's called "not my will but yours be done". why should we do that? cos God loved us so so much in the first place! okay but that will lead to another topic. save that for another time.
