the milan-liverpool match was pure pleasure, to say the least. it was simply amazing, an advocate of total disbelief. no one would have expected the turnaround that was to become the greatest ever comeback in champions league final history.
milan played a sensational brand of attacking football in the first half, wif the wonderful kaka pulling the strings n the versatile pirlo at the helm of things. much as i supported liverpool, it was just delighting to see waves of attacks by a collection of world-class stars. ever since maldini broke english hearts in the very 1st min, lpool had been all over the place. at the corner of my heart, i was vehemently hoping that lpool could quickly buck up. with crespo completing a double, milan were 3 goals to the good at half-time and it looked like a foregone conclusion where the european cup would be headed.
benitez must have done something to lpool during half-time, for what was to come in the 2nd period was just inconceivable. gerrard's header initiated a 3-goal comeback for the english side, and with each goal, there was a compounding feeling that lpool were indeed going to achieve smth great. djibril cisse should have been subbed in for baros earlier, given that the czech forward was continually neutralised by the almost impregnable jaap stam. cisse is someone who simply exudes confidence, n i totally respect him for that. cisse himself was rendered impotent by stam, but it didnt matter anymore, since by then lpool had already forged themselves back into the competition. the misses by serginho, pirlo n shevchenko in the penalty shootout all but sealed the match n effectively brought the cup back to anfield.
what a match.
